Default Customers and Key Customers are designated on the >Maintenance >POS Terminal >General tab.

You can decide if you want to track each customer individually or anonymously.

You may define different Default and Key Customers per terminal. For example, if Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are located in the front of the store, and Terminals 3 and 4 are in the back of the store you could assign Default Customer Code "FRONT" to Terminals 1-3 Code "BACK" to Terminals 3-4.

Individuals get their own unique Customer Number as well as other optional details tracked like name, address, phone, e-mail, tax location (for different rates). Individually tracked customers can have optional House Charge privileges, complete with credit limits.

Anonymous Customers are not assigned their own Customer Number, instead a Default Customer Code like "WALKIN" is used.

Add Default and Key Customer(s) into >Customers >Customer as you would an individual customer.

What else is special about Default / Key Customers?

You can enter House Charges for Key Customers. You cannot enter a House Charge for a Default Customer, you will be told to select another customer.

The Default Customer code (and name) does not print on the Acme receipt, it is only used internally.

Because Key Customer are Individual Customers their customer Code and Name DOES appear on receipts.

If you have Acme integrated with your host accounting system then transactions for Default (and Key) Customers can be consolidated during posting into the accounting system, see example below.

Consolidated Posting Example:

100 customers come in today and they each buy 1 pencil. Acme posts 1 sale of 100 pencils, not 100 sales of 1 pencil each. This consolidation prevents database bloat in the host accounting system.  The detail is not consolidated in Acme so it will be available for future reports, returns, etc.

Consolidation is a global option in Bridge Setup and only occurs with Acme Default and Key Customers.
