Inferred Item Lookup Y/N -If user scans an item bar code that appears to use a check digit, but Acme cannot find the item in the inventory file, Acme can expand the search by dropping the scanned check digit and the leading (UCC Prefix) digit.
Example: 076174951127 (12 digits) are on a UPC-A bar code.
You scan the item and Acme says "Item 076174951127 was not found".
If you enable Inferred Item Lookup Acme will also look for 7617495112 (the inside 10 digits).
Inferred EAN Lookup -Ticket entry will search for an US/Canada based EAN-13 equivalent of a UPC-A. In other words, put a zero on the left and try again. (the EAN13 country code for USA and CA is 0) This 12 digit code 076174951127 is tried as this 13 digit code 0076174951127. For this to work you must store all 12 digits of the UPC-A and your scanners must send Acme all 12 digits as well.
Many people do not realize, Country Code refers to where the barcode was issued, not where the product was made. They are often the same but not always. A 12 digit UPC-A does not have any country information in it.
Inferred UPC-E to UPC-A Lookup - If user scans valid UPC-E and the item is not found Acme will convert the UPC-E to UPC-A and perform another look up.
