To  maximize use of debit cards, which in some cases can save on processing fees...

Most payment terminals now present logical options and the customer gets to decide on the payment terminal. Set up one "Credit/Debit" button wit hcredit card payment type in Acme.

If your terminal does not allow customer selection of tender, and as of Acme build 1379...

You can set up two tenders, one for debit and one for credit. Set CC Tender Type description to "Credit / Debit", since clerk can choose credit and customer can, in some cases trump that on the payment terminal and choose debit. The bottom of the receipt will always show what type of card was used, along with part of the card number.

Disable chip reader for debit, in POS terminal Setup.

In Ticket Entry, use two buttons, one for Debit and one for Credit. Clerk asks customer "Would you like to use debit or credit?".

To recoup processing fees...

Consider Administration Fee and Discount

If you do a lot of phone orders...

Consider adding a key for Manual Entry of Card - Card Not Present. Otherwise customer needs to press red button to cancel and clerk needs to choose Manual.
