Most magnetic stripe reader's an be configured to pull age form driver's license.
The screen shots below are specific to SAM devices, but may translate to other brands of MSR's as well.
Magnetic Stripes on driver's licenses are being phased out in some states. Some states stil print them but do not follow all the rules. Your milage may vary. If you run into issues contact Total BusinessWare support.
The reader should be configured to send only track 1 and 2, and only send a carriage return after track 2. Start and Stop sentinels should be set with percent signs, question marks and semi-colons as illustrated below.
If the same MSR is used for credit card processing please note that 1) this may not work with all card processors (you may need a second MSR) and 2) if it does work you should consider more secure methods for swiping credit cards. Moving to a PIN pad could lower your rates by about 50%, and it will improve security. Contact Total BusinessWare for support.
Acme will find track two by looking for the first semicolon. Acme extracts the 8 character DOB from track 2 starting at the 5th character position after the equals character.
