Settings are for serial or OPOS scanners only.

Keyboard wedge scanners are not affected. There is no setup necessary for keyboard wedge scanners, other than inferred look-ups in Acme Setup.

Acme can use multiple scanners per terminal, one that is serial or OPOS and one or more that are keyboard wedge.

Port Settings.

Select a COM port (1-12). Also allows for setup of Baud rate, data bits, stop bits and parity if your equipment requires it.

Most scanners work well with a data rate of 9600, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit.

If you use a Flic Scanner...

Set a data rate of 4800, 8 data bits, no parity and 2 stop bits.

[Test Scanners] Button. Opens a pop up window where you scan items and see what information is read from the bar code and how that information would be fed into Acme. Output includes COM port address if it is a serial device you are testing.

Test Scanners -button

This allows you to test the device without completing a sale. The test returns the human readable portion of the bar code, as well as the address of the port that the scan was received on.

Test License Scan -button

Also works for testing magentric stripe reader (MSR) swipe as long as the device sends track 1 and 2. See Program MSR to Read Drivers License

Test scanning of 2D barcode on driver's license. Testing includes ability to save raw scan button saves two text files on disk.  With these files, we can diagnose issues with the merchants hardware without necessarily having their hardware in house.  This can also be useful too when a state doesn't follow the prescribed layout exactly especially with MSR swipes.

Coupon Extended Code Delimiter

–(optional) Enter the characters that your bar code scanner is programmed to use when scanning manufacturer coupons that have two bar codes. This delimiter tells Acme and the scanner where the first bar code stops and the second one begins. –To enable this feature in your scanner see your scanners documentation. this setting only affects Scanner A. It is assumed all coupons will be read on the primary scanner.

Sample:

The code ]C1 is used by many Metrologic Scanners.

Bar Code Scanner "B"

Duplicate configuration fields for a second serial bar code reader.
