Kits that have a price of $0 DO NOT stop and ask the clerk for for a price.
Do not configure Kit items to "Stop on Qty". If 1 is not the typical quantity then use "Set Qty" before adding the item to the ticket or use "Change Qty" after adding the item to the ticket.
Kit Type -Choose from Non-Kit Item, Deposit, Single Add-on Item, Multiple Add-on Item.
oNon-Kit Item. This is the default setting. This item does not contain any Deposit or Add-on items.
oDeposit. Link any one Deposit Type inventory item with this item. Any time this item is sold the other item will be automatically pulled into the sale too.
NOTE: The only difference between Deposit and Single Add-on (below) is that you can only assign items marked as deposit type items as an item deposit. This makes it easier to set up items when you have have of different deposit amounts.
oSingle Add-on Item. Link any one General Type item with this inventory item. Any time this item is sold the other item will be automatically pulled into the sale too. See note directly above.

The kit choice of “Prebuilt” and “On the Fly” determines when the components come out of inventory.
On the fly adjusts inventory during the sale/return.
Pre-built assumes you build the kit prior to sale , and put it on the shelf to be sold later.
oPrebuilt Kit - Link any number of General Type items with this inventory item.
oComponent on-hand quantities are not affected during Ticket Entry. The quantities entered into kit setup tab are solely for reference. It is assumed you will take the components out of inventory when you build the kits and put them on the self for future sale. See example Prebuilt Kit.
Prebuilt kits DO NOT work with stored consignment.
oAssemble on the Fly aka Multiple Add-on Items. Link any number of General Type items with this inventory item. Price for the kit is derived by summing the price of all components. Component prices are affected by ALL pricing logic. Typically the componet price in the kit reflects some discount from the components List Price.
When this item is sold the component items will be automatically decremented from inventory. The components do not appear on the Ticket Entry screen. They can appear on receipts or not.
The components come out of inventory during the transaction. See example On the Fly Kit.
Pricing is assigned to the component items in the kit, not the finished good. Any List Price assigned to the finished good is ignored during Ticket Entry. Keep in mind all other pricing logic is in place for the components, including specials, mix and match, customer specific pricing as well as every option available on the Item Pricing tab in Item Maintenance.
Whether or not and how component quantities appear on the receipt is depended on finished good and global settings.
The item control setting of Stop on Quantity will not work with the main kit item. However, setting the quantity before adding the kit to the ticket does work. The number of kits (and components) will be multiplied. Simply tap the set quantity key, enter the quantity and add the kits to the ticket.
If a component is marked stop on price the action is ignored. No alert pops up.
If a component is marked stop on qty an alert pops up and that component will not be added to the ticket. Other components are added. The component should be changed to Default Item Control.
On the fly kits are non-stocking since they do not have on hand stock. Currently, Acme does not check for sufficient inventory for components to complete the sale. This should be added in a future update. On the fly kits DO WORK with consignment inventory.
Summary of some of the more important points...
1.With "on the fly", components are priced and it's done using all pricing rules, regardless of whether or not they print on receipts or appear on the Ticket Entry Screen.
2.If a finished good is "Stop on Price", that action is ignored. No alert pops up.
3.If a finished good is “Stop on Qty” or “Wait for Scale” or “Wait for Scale with Tare” the sale is blocked via ALERT. Change the kit to Default item type. If you want to sell a quantity of the kit, use the Set Quantity action key or scan the item more than once. This will sell multiples of the components as well.
The Acme Data Miner includes a report called "Kits and List of Components BC". It produces a list of all component items and is intended for use as a Pick List for staff gathering the components.
