Types of Acme
Single Store Acme -Gets inventory from one location in the host accounting system, or stands alone without a host accounting system. May have Portable Acme's.
Central Acme -A non selling Acme used to pass data to and from a host accounting system and one or more Satellite Acmes. You can not sell from a Central Acme.
You need a central Acme if any of the following are true:
•You have one company in a host accounting system and more than one store.
•You have a host accounting system and only one store, but it is not one same local area network as accounting.
•No host accounting but multiple stores and you want centralized management and reporting.
In Central you Can...
•Add records like items, customers, vendors, etc.
•Create Purchase Orders for delivery to Central, or one or more stores.
•Monitor the business in Central by viewing and editing lists (items, customers, vendors, etc) and running reports for one or more stores.
Satellite Acme -Acme running at a store. Exchanges data with a Central Acme. Also see Portable Acme.
Portable Acme -Take Acme on the road. Sales people, route sales, sidewalk sales, trade shows, etc. Portable Terminals can be belong to a Single Store, or a Satellite Acme.
Benefits of our Central Satellite Portable model:
1.Stores can use any combination of communication methods. Mapped drives (LAN or VPN), FTP, or sneakernet (email or thumb drive).
2.The data transferred between the stores is in compressed (zip) files. This means transfers occur quickly, and you can be assured that ALL the data that is sent is received.
3.Each Satellite Store uses its own inventory, but can see the data at the other stores. Central Acme acts as a hub, gathering and sharing data between stores.
4.Portable Acmes work great for sidewalk sales, trade shows, route sales etc.
5.Customers and Alternate Addresses entered into the host accounting system (if used) get pushed out to all stores.
6.Customers and Alternate Addresses that are added into the Satellites get pushed out to all stores.
7.Reports run in the Central Acme reflect data from all stores.
