Setting up your Dymo LabelWriter.
Acme Point of Sale works with any of the Dymo LabelWriter label printers up to and including the 4xx twin series. Acme is not compatible with models 500 and higher. We require version 8 Dymo Label software and Dymo discontinued support with the introduction of the 500 models.
LabelWriters up to model 4xx.
1) You can use USB or Serial cable as appropriate for your model printer.
2) One or more printers can be shared across the network. Because preferred printers and label formats can be stored on an item by item basis you should name your printers the same on every workstation.
3) The word "LabelWriter" must be used in the Windows name of the printer. If you have a "Twin" Label Writer printer (can print to two rolls at one time) then you must make sure the word "Twin" is contained in the printer name as well. Printer names should be limited to 50 characters. See illustration below.
4) The software that comes with the Labelwriter must be installed on each machine that is going to print labels.
5) If you are going to want to print different sizes of labels consider buying multiple printers or a "Twin" model.
If you install multiple printers consider making the Windows name of each printer something meaningful like "shelf labelwriter", "shipping box labelwriter", or "small product labelwriter". Acme will allow you to choose which printer to use during label printing.
Dymo Twin Turbo Printers
Just as DYMO LabelWriter printers are recognized by the “LabelWriter” term in the printer name, twin printers are recognized by the “Twin” term in the Windows printer name. Left roll / right roll is only active when the currently selected printer is a twin printer. Acme should work fine with version 7 and version 8 of the DYMO software.
