Click >Inventory >Print Product/Shelf Labels (also available in item maintenance via the Label button)
Print shelf labels, product labels, sign labels etc.
Productivity Tip |
Labels can also be printed from within Inventory Maintenance and from within the Acme Data Miner. Contact support to discuss best labeling work flows for your store.
Use your bar code scanner!
You can also user your scanner after clicking the Item Look Up button, this is necessary if you wish to search PLU's. |
You can associate the item with three different label types, Shelf, Item and Sign. Typically these would be different size label stock or include different data from one another. The names are informational only. Any tab can print any label.
For example you may wish to print item price and bar code on the shelf label but only item bar code and description on the item label.
PLU (Bar Code) To Print. -Select the code that you wish to print.
Items can have an unlimited number of codes. See >Inventory Maintenance >PLU for additional information.
Preferred Barcode. -If you have a preferred bar code designated in Item Maintenance PLU Tab label printing will default to it.
Unit of Measure. -Displays the UOM associated with selected PLU.
Use PLU UOM. -Check box if you wish to have the UOM that is displayed printed onto the label. Otherwise the UOM from the Item General Tab will be printed.
Price Code. -Select a Price Code. Acme will print the associated price (for a qty of one) on the label if the label includes a place for one.
Changed flag. Acme monitors the Price Code that you print and if it changes from item to item then the "changed" flag will alert you. This helps ensure accuracy if for example you are printing labels for a Spring Sale and one of the items is not properly set up with Spring Sale Price Code.
Price Code Price and List Price -Display only. Acme will print List Price if the label includes a space for one.
Number of Labels. Enter quantity to print. Default is one label.
Bar Code Type. Select from:
1.Code 39
2.UPC/EAN
3.Code 128 Auto *
4.EAN-128
* 128 Auto tends to be able to encode the most data in the smallest space. The other options are typically only used in an environment where the scanenrs require a specific format. If your data doesn't fit consider a custom label : Add Bar Code to Custom Label
Validate Button. -This tests the bar code characters to see if it adheres to standards. When printing UPC/EAN, short bar codes are left padded with zeros to the next available length (7,8,12, or 13 characters). If the bar code is exactly 7, 8, 12, or 13 characters in length, the check digit is dropped and recalculated for the bar code. It is possible to print a UPC/EAN bar code that differs from what was entered if the check digit was incorrectly entered.
This test does not guarantee that the printed label will be readable by your scanner or that the entire code will fit on the printed label.
Also see Label Printing topic for a section on making up your own bar codes.
Printer. -Select your Dymo LabelWriter from the drop down list. If there is only one LabelWriter installed on your computer this control is locked.
